What is extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy?

Extracorporeal shock wave lithotripsy (ESWL) is a procedure that uses a focused shock wave generated outside the body to crush stones in the body, including multiple urinary stones, so that they can be excreted with the excretory fluid in the body, and is now recognized as the preferred treatment for urinary stones. The advantages are: no incision, good efficacy, repeated treatment and few side effects. It is suitable for the treatment of kidney stones, ureteral stones and bladder stones. The effectiveness of extracorporeal lithotripsy is related to the composition, structure and location of the stones. Stones vary in size and composition, so some stones cannot be crushed at once and require multiple lithotripsy. In view of this, the Beijing Price Bureau stipulates that the initial crushing is 1200 RMB and the re-crushing is 500 RMB each time. After lithotripsy, take care to drink more water and take oral lithotripsy medication. If you experience severe hematuria or abdominal pain, please come to the hospital promptly. Each time you urinate, use a clear plastic bottle to collect the fine sand-like stones at the bottom. Come back to the hospital in a week and bring a specimen of the excreted stones.
