Varicocele is a relatively common male disorder that affects about 15% of men. The vast majority of men with this disorder are not infertile, but varicocele is present in about 40% of men with infertility. Thus, the relationship between varicocele and male infertility remains elusive and there is much controversy, even among professionals, about the effectiveness of surgical treatment of varicocele. In most hospitals, the indications for surgery of varicocele are as follows: 1. ultrasound confirmed varicocele and reflux, with decreased sperm quality and infertility; 2. more obvious painful symptoms, affecting work and life, and ineffective conservative treatment. For adolescents with varicocele, AUA recommends: 1. Semen should be rechecked every 1 to 2 years. 2.If there is objective evidence of shrinkage of the testicle on the side of varicocele, surgical treatment should be considered.
