Many thyroid disorders can manifest as nodules, which can be caused by a variety of pathologies such as thyroid degeneration, inflammation, autoimmunity, and tumors. Thyroid nodules can be seen in men and women of all ages, but are more common in middle-aged women. Thyroid nodules can be solitary or multiple, with multiple nodules having a higher incidence than solitary ones, while solitary nodules have a higher incidence of thyroid cancer compared to multiple nodules. Dietary considerations for thyroid nodules are as follows: 1. For Hashimoto’s thyroiditis with nodules, the intake of iodine may not be strictly controlled, but a large amount of food with high iodine will also increase the damage of thyroid follicular cells and antibody production, which will aggravate the destruction of thyroid cells, so a large amount of seafood with high iodine should not be consumed. 2, the nodule is a high-functioning adenoma that can secrete thyroid hormone, diet, should strictly avoid iodine, because iodine is one of the raw materials for the synthesis of thyroid hormone, too much iodine intake, will increase the synthesis of thyroid hormone, thus aggravating the patient’s hyperthyroidism symptoms, therefore, should not eat more iodine is also a contraindication to the diet of thyroid nodules. 3, non-functional nodules, this nodule has no effect on thyroid function, diet can be based on less iodine, it is recommended to eat less iodine-rich seafood (such as kelp) and other foods, because these two foods will promote the growth of thyroid nodules, eat more is not beneficial to patients. 4, it is advisable to eat less iodine-rich food, such as seaweed, nori, hair color, dried shellfish, jellyfish, sea cucumber, lobster, turtle, etc.. It is advisable to eat more food with the effect of decongesting and dispersing swelling, including ling, rape, mustard, kiwi, etc. It is advisable to eat more foods with immunity enhancing effects, such as shiitake mushrooms, mushrooms, fungus, walnuts, barley, red dates, yams and fresh fruits are contraindicated in the diet of thyroid nodules. 5, avoid smoking, alcohol. Avoid spicy and stimulating foods, such as onion, pepper and chili, cinnamon, etc. Avoid fatty and fried foods.
