Recently, constipated patients have been coming to the clinic, and some of them have seriously affected their daily work and life, and their quality of life has significantly decreased; a few of them have developed serious adverse consequences (such as rectal ulcer, anal fissure, anal fistula, etc.); some of them have even developed some terrible thoughts. Therefore, I was prompted to talk about self-care and medication for constipation from a professional point of view combined with my personal experience in treatment. Constipation is very common, but it really affects the quality of life of individuals, and even troubles them constantly. For patients with constipation, my personal experience is: a. To find out the cause of constipation, the so-called secondary constipation, such constipation, the cause must be removed to restore normal bowel movements; its common causes include medication (especially antipsychotics, antispasmodics, etc.), abdominal lesions (intestinal adhesions, intra-abdominal masses, ascites, etc.), intestinal lesions (inflammation, masses, anal fissures, etc.); and full colonoscopy is one of the most important tests that every patient with constipation should have. Second, in some or even most patients, no clear cause for constipation can be found. For this group of patients, they need to take a comprehensive measure of self-conditioning combined with medication, as follows: 1. Adjust the mentality, correctly understand the importance of defecation, and abandon bad habits such as cleanliness. 2, daily life should be to drink more water, eat more vegetables and food rich in coarse fiber, more exercise (including walking, etc.). 3, to develop good bowel habits, should choose a relatively fixed defecation time according to the actual situation of individuals, regular defecation every day; rinse the anus after defecation or wipe with a wet cloth, wet paper towels. Do not: (1) read books or magazines, time consuming; (2) never force, forced defecation, which is harmful to the body; the above two habits are not desirable, the correct approach is: during defecation should be relaxed, do not have fear, thinking about defecation, generally adhere to 3-5 minutes, better with defecation, no defecation on the end, but need to adhere to daily. 4, usually should consciously do a contraction action, that is, alternate contraction and relaxation of the anal action, which can exercise the pelvic floor muscles and anal sphincter, which helps the usual defecation. 5, drug treatment: should be applied for a short period of time in the early stage, only auxiliary treatment, to develop good defecation habits should be promptly discontinued. The types of drugs available are: bulking agents (volumetric laxatives), osmotic laxatives, lubricants/faecal softeners, stimulant laxatives, motivational drugs, herbs, probiotics, enemas and anal preparations. The more commonly used drugs are: medicinal magnesium oxide powder, polyethylene glycol 4000, lactulose, Chinese patent medicine, etc.; please see a specialist when you need to take medication. The above is only a personal opinion, for reference only; I wish constipated people have a clear mind and body, and return to a good life soon.
