The patient is male, 55 years old. He had been suffering from dysphagia for more than 30 years and had been aggravated for 4 years. 2007, he had an esophageal stent implanted in the gastroenterology department of an external hospital, which was removed after one month. The patient refused to have another esophageal stent placed, and the doctor recommended open-heart surgery, which the patient refused because he was afraid of the too-long surgical incision. The dysphagia continued to worsen in the last 3 years, and in January 2011, the esophagus was dilated twice, with relief for only 2 days after each dilatation. Since then, he could not swallow any water for more than 1 month. Gao Yongshun of the General Surgery Department of the First Affiliated Hospital of Zhengzhou University later underwent laparoscopic surgery, with only four small 0.5 cm holes in the abdominal wall without a single stitch and another 5 cm incision. On the first day, he could drink water and get out of bed, and on the second day, he drank thin rice, and on the third day, he could eat steamed buns and soft noodles. On the fourth day, all infusion therapy was stopped. He was discharged after three days of observation and everything was normal. There was no more dysphagia. Advantages of laparoscopic treatment of the disease: 1 One-time cure. 2 Light pain, small incision, quick recovery, no after-effects. 3 Short hospitalization time and low cost.
