Is it leukemia if a child keeps falling down when walking?

A child’s frequent walking and falling is usually not due to leukemia, but can be caused by a variety of reasons and requires examination to determine the exact cause. There are many clinical reasons why children often fall when walking. If a child is a toddler, it is normal for him or her to become unstable within 1 week of age. If the child has motor nerve dysplasia, he or she can also have unstable walking and fall easily. Some children also tend to fall when walking due to malnutrition and lack of calcium in their bodies, which causes poor bone development. In addition, if the affected child has a cerebellar disorder and poor coordination, he or she may also walk and fall all the time, and a detailed neurological examination is needed to make a clear diagnosis. Therefore, if a child only shows signs of walking and falling all the time, it is usually not diagnosed as leukemia. In conclusion, if a child walks and falls frequently, then it is recommended to go to the pediatric department of a regular hospital for a trace element examination, and also to clarify whether the child’s bone development is normal by X-ray examination. If leukemia is suspected, bone marrow aspiration and immunophenotyping tests should be performed to clarify the diagnosis.
