What kind of results can be achieved with scoliosis surgery? How many degrees can be corrected?

How much scoliosis can be corrected by scoliosis surgery? This is a major concern for patients, and there are two aspects to this question. The first is when the scoliosis is particularly flexible, and the second is when the scoliosis is particularly stiff. In the case of scoliosis that is particularly flexible, the better the flexibility, the greater the degree of correction, even to more than 90%. For example, a scoliosis of more than 60 degrees can be corrected by more than 55 degrees. For the second condition, which is severe rigid scoliosis, this type of scoliosis is particularly difficult and risky to operate on. The degree of correction is usually just between 50% and 60%. The first goal of scoliosis surgery is to stop further progression of the scoliosis. The second goal is to restore the patient’s balance, so the more degrees of scoliosis that are corrected, the better, but rather the need to focus on whether the scoliosis will not progress after surgery.
