At present, thoracoscopy has been widely used in thoracic surgery, including lung and esophageal diseases, and surgeries that used to require large incisions, such as radical lung cancer treatment, can now be done under thoracoscopy, but before the surgery, doctors will mention a problem that although thoracoscopic surgery is less invasive, the cost is much higher compared to the next. So let’s take conventional lobectomy for lung cancer as an example and analyze where the money is actually spent. First of all, there is a cost of using thoracoscope, a set of mainframe plus consumable instruments, goodbye is the cost of sterilization each time, which is several thousand for one use. Secondly, the operation under the thoracoscope is basically automated to ensure safety. Need to use disposable cutting suture, in a small 1cm wide suture, there are 6 rows of staples, 3 rows on one side, so as to ensure that the severed blood vessels do not bleed and the trachea does not leak. So this staple bin costs 2-3000 RMB for one. Lung surgery requires the severance of blood vessels, including arteries and veins, trachea, and lung tissue. Generally, the veins and bronchi require only one staple, while the arteries have more branches and may require 2-3 (the arteries of the left upper lung have 4-6 branches), and the lung tissue needs to be cut off (1-3). Thus, at least 4 nail bins are needed, and the price is more than 10,000. If more, even 7 or 8 are needed, the total price is more than 20,000. For open surgery with large incisions, only tracheal closures are usually needed (2 rows of staples on one side, which are much cheaper). Cutting the lung may require a cutting suture, but the size is 80-100mm, while the longest lumpectomy is only a 60mm cut. So the price works out to be much less. So this makes the price difference at least 10-20,000 RMB.
