Dry eye requires long-term treatment!

Dry eye is not contagious Dry eye is a set of different manifestations or symptoms caused by the eyes not getting enough tears to moisten them, such as dryness, fatigue, burning sensation, foreign body sensation, frosting sensation, and in some people, eye congestion and stinging pain, which are often misdiagnosed as eye infections or allergies. Long time looking at the computer screen, the number of blinks will be invisibly reduced, from 20 to 25 blinks per minute, reduced to 5 to 10 times, thus reducing the secretion of intraocular lubricant – tears, while the eyes are exposed to the air for a long time, so that water evaporates too quickly, causing dry eyes discomfort, long-term so easy to cause dry eye disease. Computer fluorescent screen electromagnetic waves, ultraviolet rays, radiation, blinding colors and infrared rays can also stimulate the eyes, causing eye dryness, fatigue, double vision, blurred vision. Also, long hours in an air-conditioned environment with dry air can also predispose you to dry eyes. Many diseases can cause dry eyes, such as conjunctivitis, keratitis, rheumatoid arthritis, etc. The main common factors in life are aging, prolonged gazing at computer screens or reading, wearing contact lenses, air-conditioned environment, atmospheric pollution, etc. It is worth noting that the preservatives in some eye drops have a greater impact on the corneal epithelium and can easily lead to dry eye after long-term use. At present, dry eye disease cannot be cured. At present, dry eye disease is highly prevalent among white-collar workers who use computers for a long time, such as office workers; young people are suffering from dry eye disease more and more, and their symptoms are getting heavier and heavier. There is no once and for all cure for dry eye. How to choose the right eye drops? Since artificial tears are used to replace physiological tears, the closer they are to physiological tears, the more suitable they are. Depending on the severity of your dry eye, you can choose the right artificial tear solution for you under the guidance of your ophthalmologist. It is important to emphasize that many people think that more eye drops can moisten the cornea to prevent dry eye, but this is actually a one-sided view, because eye drops are not artificial tears. Prevention of dry eye recurrence depends on daily health care: do not “not blink”. Blink often to keep the corneal and conjunctival surfaces moist and the work and living environment at the right humidity level. Experts remind: avoid long hours of continuous operation of the computer, pay attention to the intermediate rest. Usually 1 hour of continuous operation, rest 5 to 10 minutes. The distance between the eyes and the computer should be appropriate. The distance between the eyes and the computer screen should be kept at more than 60 cm, and the upper end of the screen should be slightly lower than the line of sight by 10 to 15 degrees. Maintain a certain level of brightness. The brightness of the computer screen should not feel harsh to the eyes, and the light around the computer should not be too dark. Do not use air conditioning for too long. Avoid air currents blowing over the seat and place tea near the seat to increase the surrounding humidity. Artificial tears should be used when there are symptoms of dry eyes. It is best to use it under the guidance of an ophthalmologist. Eat more fruits, vegetables, dairy products, fish and other vitamin-rich foods and drink more water.
