According to experts from the Icahn School of Medicine at Mount Sinai, magnetic resonance imaging (MRI) may be an effective way to diagnose mental illnesses, including bipolar disorder. In a landmark study, researchers used advanced technology to successfully differentiate bipolar disorder patients from healthy individuals based on brain scans alone, with an accuracy rate of more than 70 percent. The results of the study were published in Psychological Medicine.
