How long can you survive after liver transplantation for liver cancer?

For patients who are treated with liver transplantation due to tumor disease of the liver, the first step is to observe the stage of the liver tumor and the type of pathology. If the liver transplantation is performed at an earlier stage, the patient’s survival rate is more than 5 or 10 years as long as the tumor does not recur after the surgery. If the patient has late liver tumor disease, liver transplantation at a later stage may result in further tumor recurrence and metastasis, especially in the liver area. In addition, patients need to have an enhanced CT or PET-CT examination of the upper abdomen if necessary to determine whether there is a recurrence of liver tumor after surgery.
