Neonatal erythema, also known as neonatal nevus, is commonly found near the midline of the forehead, upper eyelid, between the eyebrows, around the nose or occipital neck. It is orange or light red, does not protrude from the skin surface, and can fade with light pressure. The lesions are located in the dermis and appear in the neonatal period, increasing slightly as the child grows, but the color does not deepen. However, it needs to be differentiated from hemangioma and erythema. Hemangioma is mainly characterized by vascular endothelial proliferation and has typical proliferation and regression periods. It grows rapidly at the beginning and can protrude from the skin locally, so it needs early and active treatment to control growth and promote degeneration; nevus is a kind of vascular malformation that grows slowly with age and does not regress.
