Fever in novel coronavirus pneumonia may vary from patient to patient: some patients may have a mild onset of symptoms and may even have no significant fever. Some patients present with only a low fever. Severe and critically ill patients may have a low to moderate (37.5°C-38°C) to moderate (38.1-39°C) fever or even no significant fever during the course of the disease. A small number of infected patients have no obvious clinical symptoms and only test positive. Fever alone does not necessarily indicate novel coronavirus pneumonia. Patients with novel coronavirus pneumonia may present with symptoms such as malaise and dry cough in addition to fever, and a few patients have upper respiratory and gastrointestinal symptoms such as nasal congestion, runny nose, and diarrhea.
