What is mental health?

Psychology, or spirituality, is the process by which the human brain reflects objective reality. With regard to health, it was first thought that “the absence of disease is health”, but in recent years it is thought that “health is a state of physical, mental, moral and social well-being, not just the absence of disease and weakness.” Physical health and moral health are well known to everyone and need not be discussed. Good social adaptation is extremely closely related to psychological health, and as long as one is psychologically healthy, it is not difficult to function well in social adaptation. Without the Communist Party, there would be no new China, and without mental health, there would be no harmonious campus. The level of civilization of a school depends on the popularity of mental health knowledge among all teachers and students. The ability to improve the happiness index of school teachers and students depends on the speed of mental health development. So, what is mental health? Mental health, or mental health, is a state in which all types of mental activity are normal, relationships are coordinated, content is consistent with reality and personality is in a relatively stable state. There are many criteria for determining mental health, but the more recognized ones are: normal intelligence, thinking that correctly reflects reality, happy and stable emotions, strong will, sound personality, coordinated interpersonal relationships, moderate reaction to events and abundant potential. The ten criteria of mental health proposed by American psychologists Maslow and Mitelman are recognized as the “most classic criteria”: (1) Adequate sense of security (2) Adequate understanding of oneself and an appropriate assessment of one’s own abilities (3) Realistic goals in life (4) Contact with the real environment (5) Ability to maintain the integrity and harmony of one’s personality (6) Ability to learn from experience (7) Ability to maintain good interpersonal relationships (8) Moderate expression and control of emotions (9) Appropriate satisfaction of basic personal needs without violating social norms (10) Better development of one’s personality under the premise of collective requirements Mental health standards for college students In practice, we believe that the mental health of college students should be grasped from the following aspects (1) Normal intelligence. This is the basic psychological condition for college students to study, live and work, and it is also the psychological guarantee necessary to adapt to the changes in the surrounding environment, so the key to measure is whether the effectiveness is normal and adequate: that is, having a strong desire to know, being willing to learn, and being able to actively participate in learning activities. (2) Emotional health. The hallmark is emotional stability and a happy mood. Included are, more pleasant emotions than negative emotions, optimistic and cheerful, energetic, full of hope for life; more stable emotions, good at controlling and regulating their emotions, both restraint and reasonable catharsis; emotional reactions and the environment to adapt. (3) Sound will. Will is a person in the completion of a purposeful activity, the choice, decision and implementation of the mental process. Those with a sound will show a high level of consciousness, decisiveness, tenacity and self-control in their actions. College students of sound will have consciousness of purpose in various activities, can make timely decisions and apply practical and prepared ways to solve the problems they encounter, can react in a reasonable way in the face of difficulties and setbacks, and can control their emotions in their actions instead of acting blindly, fearing difficulties, and being stubborn and obstinate. (4) Integrity of personality. Personality refers to the sum of the more stable psychological characteristics of an individual. Personality perfection means having a sound and unified personality, that is, what the individual thinks, says and does is coherent. One is the integrity and unity of all elements of the personality structure; having a correct sense of self, not creating confusion about self-identity, taking a positive and enterprising outlook on life as the core of personality, and uniting one’s own, needs, goals and actions with this as the center. (5) Correct self-evaluation. Correct self-evaluation is an important condition for college students’ mental health. College students and self-observation, self-identification, self-judgment and self-evaluation, to know themselves, to know themselves appropriately, to put themselves in the right position, neither to be proud of themselves for being higher than others in some aspects, nor to be inferior to others in some aspects, to be able to be self-pleasing, to like themselves, to accept themselves, to have self-respect, self-improvement, self-control and self-love Moderate, facing reality squarely and being positive. (6) Harmonious interpersonal relationships. Good and deep interpersonal relationships are a prerequisite for career success and happiness in life. Its performance is. Enjoy interacting with others, have extensive and deep interpersonal relationships, and have close friends; maintain an independent and complete personality in the interaction, have self-awareness, not humble; can objectively evaluate others and themselves, good at taking the strengths of others to make up for their weaknesses, treat others with generosity, willing to help others, more positive than negative attitudes in interaction, positive motivation for interaction. (7) Normal social adaptation. The individual maintains good order with the objective reality. Make objective observation to obtain correct understanding, respond to various difficulties in the environment with effective methods, do not retreat, and also try to coordinate according to the characteristics of the environment and the situation of self-awareness, or reform the environment to adapt to the needs of the individual and reform the self to adapt to the environment. (8) Mental behavior is in accordance with the age characteristics of college students. College students are a special group in a specific age stage, and college students should have the psychological behavior characteristics corresponding to their age and role. In a word, the criteria of mental health are multi-faceted and multi-level, in general, they are good self-awareness; good social function; good coping ability; and moral health. To evaluate a person’s psychological state, we must evaluate it in a comprehensive manner in order to make a correct conclusion. If we find some problems from the above criteria or conditions, we can seek counseling and treatment from a psychologist, but we should not jump to conclusions and deal with them blindly.
