What is the goal for thyroid cancer tsh control

Thyroid cancer is mostly curable with early surgery, but postoperative medical therapy is required in some strains with higher malignancy and greater risk of recurrence. The target values for TSH control are largely stratified according to the risk of different treatment side effects.

TSH levels are an independent predictor of thyroid recurrence and morbidity and mortality. The reduction of thyroid cancer recurrence by suppressing TSH at or below the low limit of normal, or even undetectable, by oral thyroxine preparations is called TSH suppression therapy. Doctors will classify patients into low, intermediate, and high risk groups for TSH suppression therapy based on criteria such as patient age, cardiovascular complications, and pre- and post-menopause. Then different risk groups have different target values for TSH control in the initial treatment period (up to 1 year after surgery) and in the follow-up period (after 1 year after surgery). Therefore, the treatment of thyroid cancer TSH control level is more complicated, and it is recommended to be treated after visiting a specialist.
