How to treat sebaceous cysts

Sebaceous cysts can be treated with general therapy, medication, and surgery.
Sebaceous cysts are mainly retention cysts formed when the cystic epithelium of sebaceous glands is swollen by the gradually increasing contents due to obstruction of sebaceous gland excretory ducts.
1. General treatment: Sebaceous cysts generally have a small effect, but may persist, and patients should pay attention to maintaining their own hygiene. For those with greasy skin, mild cleansers can be used to clean the skin. Avoid scratching and squeezing the affected area.
2. Medication: For cysts combined with infections, antibiotics can be used as prescribed by the doctor, such as cefoxitin, levofloxacin and so on. The specific choice and use of antibiotics should be combined with the results of clinical drug sensitivity test.
3. Surgery: Sebaceous cysts are mainly treated by surgery. The most commonly used method of radical treatment is surgical excision under local anesthesia. Sebaceous cysts are small swellings on the surface of the body, and should be removed as completely as possible without leaving the cyst wall, otherwise they are prone to recurrence.
It is recommended that patients actively go to the hospital for consultation and follow the doctor’s instructions for standardized treatment. Drugs should be used under the guidance of a doctor.
