Poor quality toothbrushes and dentures can induce oral cancer

Elderly people are the high incidence of oral cancer, most of them wear dentures, and substandard and poor quality dentures can induce oral cancer after wearing, meanwhile, poor quality toothbrushes can also induce oral cancer. When it comes to oral diseases, people often think of dental caries and periodontal disease, and few people will associate oral and cancer. As a matter of fact, oral cancer is not uncommon in China, and its incidence accounts for 1.75% to 5.18% of the whole body malignant tumors, and the trend is increasing year by year, so the vigilance of oral cancer must not be taken lightly. It is understood that oral cancer is particularly popular among middle-aged and elderly people, and 75% of oral cancers are clinically detected in the age group above 60 years old. There are many factors that cause oral cancer, smoking, alcoholism and wearing inappropriate dentures are the most common reasons. Inferior toothbrushes induce oral cancer Inferior toothbrushes are not only ineffective in removing plaque, but may also damage gums and teeth, causing greater harm to oral health. The brush head of poor quality toothbrushes is usually larger, which can easily irritate the mucous membrane after reaching in. Secondly, the bristles of poor quality toothbrushes are thicker, which can easily damage the gums and cause mouth ulcers causing damage to the mucosa. Occasional damage to the mucosa can be repaired automatically, but if repeatedly damaged, mouth ulcers can easily cause cancer. In addition, excessive smoking and alcohol abuse can also induce oral cancer, which has become a medical certainty. It is generally believed that the chemical benzo(a)pyrene in tobacco and the toxicity of alcohol to normal cells increase the possibility of cancer. It is found that those who smoke more than 1 pack/day or drink more than 25 grams/day are far more likely to develop oral cancer than non-smokers or drinkers. As oral cancer involves important organs such as cheeks, tongue, lips, palate and floor of the mouth, it has the cruel characteristics of rapid metastasis and low survival rate, Dr. Michael Cahen, professor of Tufts University, pointed out that “the number of deaths caused by oral cancer is at least twice that of cervical cancer. The policy of “three early” (early detection, early diagnosis and early treatment) is the recognized “cure” in the medical field. Therefore, if the following symptoms occur, you should seek early medical attention: first, the oral mucosa turns white, brown or black; second, a swelling is found in the mouth and grows fast with pain, bleeding or numbness; third, an ulcer is found in the mouth that cannot heal for more than two weeks. If symptoms such as burning sensation and pain do not heal in more than two weeks, we should beware of the coming of oral cancer. Preventive measures for oral cancer: 1. Avoid unnecessary prolonged light exposure, smoking and drinking. 2.Eating a balanced diet with coarse and fine food, not to drink or eat too hot water and food to avoid stimulating oral tissues. 3.Pull out the residual roots and crowns of the teeth, wear good dentures and do not stimulate the oral tissues. 4.People who wear dentures, find pain and inflammation in the tissues under the dentures, seek timely medical attention. 5.Cultivate good oral hygiene habits and brush your teeth frequently.
