Does it hurt to scrape with a thick lining?

In women with irregular periods, often due to ovarian endocrine dysfunction, menstrual disorders may occur and sometimes thickening of the endometrium may occur; it may also be due to a lesion in the endometrium causing thickening of the endometrium, so this may require a diagnostic scraping procedure to confirm the exact cause. Women with irregular menstruation and thick endometrium often need to undergo a diagnostic procedure, which is often called a curettage. A general curettage without anesthesia does involve some pain, similar to that of an abortion, because the cervix needs to be dilated with a dilator and then the lining of the uterus needs to be scraped out with a spatula and sent for pathological examination to determine the exact problem. Most patients are able to cooperate with the surgeon and tolerate the pain to complete the procedure. If a painless curettage is performed, intravenous anesthesia is administered before the procedure, and there is no pain during the procedure, only a slight pain in the lower abdomen after the procedure, but the pain is tolerable at this time. Therefore, no special pain treatment is usually needed after the procedure, whether it is a normal or painless curettage, but antibiotics are needed to prevent infection. Since there will be a small amount of bleeding after the curettage procedure, it is recommended to abstain from intercourse for one month after the procedure. After the scraping procedure, the lining will also need to be sent for pathological examination to confirm the specific lesion problem.
