Subacute bacterial endocarditis, how to treat it

Subacute bacterial endocarditis can be treated with anti-microbial therapy and surgery.
Subacute bacterial endocarditis is a microbial infection on the surface of the heart caused by Streptococcus agalactiae, which is accompanied by the formation of redundant organisms on the diseased valves, and often invades the mitral and aortic valves, which are prone to deformation and perforation. The disease starts slowly, often manifested as fever, fatigue and sweating, loss of appetite, weight loss and other symptoms.
1. Anti-microbial therapy: the most important treatment, according to the results of bacteria and drug sensitivity test, applying antibiotic treatment of pathogenic bacterial infection, the course of treatment should be enough, and the treatment should be done as early as possible. For patients whose pathogenic bacteria are not clear, β-lactam ring antibiotics, such as penicillin, cephalosporin and other antibiotic treatment can be used.
2. Surgery: Surgery is needed for patients with endocarditis who do not respond to anti-microbial therapy or whose condition is severe, such as perforation of heart valves, tearing, tendon cable rupture or occurrence of refractory acute heart failure.
3. Treatment of complications: such as heart failure, arrhythmia, myocardial and pericardial cysts, infected aneurysms, organ embolisms and neurological complications.
Note: Subacute bacterial endocarditis requires prompt medical attention, early treatment, and active cooperation under the guidance of a doctor.
