Bone metastases from prostate cancer require oral pain medication. Oral medication should be taken in a stepwise manner, starting with the less effective pain medication, and then gradually escalating if the effect is not satisfactory, until the medication with the best pain relief is escalated. The drug with the best pain relief can be increased until the pain is mainly controlled. In addition to oral pain medication, if the pain is limited, local radiotherapy can also be considered for the main purpose of pain relief, as well as the infusion of bisphosphonate anti-metastatic drugs, which can reduce the incidence of fracture. Bone metastasis of prostate cancer belongs to advanced stage, which is not very sensitive to chemotherapy and needs endocrine drug treatment.
