Laparoscopic subtotal colectomy for constipation

Constipation is a common disorder with numerous causes and some conditions are complex to treat. Most patients can be effectively treated with non-surgical measures such as diet modification, application of appropriate medications and biofeedback therapy, but a few patients require surgical treatment to achieve a radical cure. For slow-transport constipation due to colonic transmission dysfunction, the application of laparoscopic technology minimizes surgical trauma and the resulting series of side effects while treating the disease.
