How long does it take for the compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte to work?

After oral administration, the compound polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution usually takes effect after 2 hours and begins to appear with a distinct sexual sensation of stool. Polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution is a laxative agent that stimulates intestinal motility. The main ingredients are polyethylene glycol 3350 and electrolytes (sodium sulfate, sodium chloride, sodium bicarbonate, etc.). When taken as required, it is usually effective in about 2 hours, not only for laxative cleansing of the intestines, but also for replenishing the body with a large amount of electrolytes excreted from the fecal body. Clinically, it is mainly used to perform whole bowel flushing prior to surgery or colonoscopy in order to clear the intestinal contents and ensure the smooth performance of the surgery or colonoscopy. Before patients take such medication, they must mix polyethylene glycol electrolyte powder with water to form a solution and shake the mixture well. Drink the polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution in a certain ratio at the exact time interval prescribed by the doctor until all the doses prescribed by the doctor have been completed. It is important to note that if a patient has a type of condition such as intestinal perforation, intestinal obstruction, or megacolon, do not use polyethylene glycol electrolyte solution to prevent aggravation or even life-threatening conditions.
