What are the surgical treatment options for prostate cancer?

There are several surgical options for prostate cancer: open surgical treatment (i.e., radical retropubic prostate cancer surgery, which is a type of surgery performed through an abdominal incision), laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery, internal radiation therapy for prostate cancer, and robot-assisted laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery. Open surgery for prostate cancer is a traditional procedure that is still being performed in many units in China. With the increasing development and progress of laparoscopic technology, laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery has been increasingly used in clinical practice. Laparoscopic radical prostate cancer surgery has the characteristics of small trauma, delicate operation, less bleeding and fast recovery, but it is very demanding for doctors and not every hospital and every doctor can perform it well. The intraprostatic radiation therapy (particle implantation) is also widely used in clinical practice for patients with limited prostate cancer who do not undergo radical prostatectomy or cannot undergo radical prostatectomy, and its efficacy has been confirmed. Robotic laparoscopic surgery is a new technology developed abroad in recent years, which means that the surgery is performed manually with the assistance of robots.
