What do I need to look for in cataract surgery?

1. I am from abroad and would like to come to you for cataract surgery, how much is the approximate cost and how much can I be reimbursed back?

According to the current national standard and the actual situation of our hospital, the average cost of cataract in one eye is about RMB 5,000-7,000, excluding the use of special high-end IOLs. Please consult your local medical insurance reimbursement department for details, as regulations vary from place to place. In Beijing, the reimbursement for IOLs is currently around 1,290 RMB for one eye.

2. What should I do if I want to have surgery, but the elderly are too old to be hospitalized, are not used to the hospital environment, or cannot adjust their living habits?

Currently, for the needs of this group of patients, our hospital has a special cataract day ward. If the patient is in good general condition, is mobile or is accompanied on the day of surgery, the surgery can be completed in the outpatient clinic. Patients can go home to rest after surgery on the same day and come to the hospital for a follow-up examination the next day.

3. What if an out-of-town patient wants to have surgery on an outpatient basis, but can only be reimbursed if they return from a hospital stay?

The cataract day ward counts as one day of hospitalization and has complete admission and discharge procedures, so you can be admitted on the same day and be discharged immediately after surgery. It does not affect the reimbursement.
