A word to patients with kidney disease

The first of these is to make sure that the patient has a good understanding of the situation. Auntie Wu of Huoqiu County has a smart, handsome boy, and the couple loves him like a treasure. Suddenly, one day, she noticed that the child had some facial swelling and edema above his heels. Auntie Wu was so scared that she immediately took the child to the hospital and took some pills back, and the swelling did not go down after 3 days of service. I heard from the next door uncle Chen said, the county suburbs have a native doctor good treatment of nephritis edema, very effective, may wish to try. Auntie Wu then took her child to seek medical help, the “doctor” did not physical examination, two do not take a pulse to see the tongue, only asked whether the hospital diagnosis is nephritis, then handed her a packet of Chinese herbal medicine, charging a lot of money. After several visits, the child became more and more swollen, so Auntie Wu brought the child to our hospital professor outpatient clinic. After various laboratory tests, mainly urine tests, the child was found to have a large amount of protein in the urine (i.e. protein ++++~++++ on the report of the routine urine test) and general swelling, and was diagnosed with primary nephrotic syndrome (renal syndrome). The child was given standard high-dose prednisone treatment, and after one week of taking it, the swelling started to go down and the protein in the urine decreased. After 4 weeks of treatment, not only did all the edema disappear, but also there was no proteinuria. Auntie Wu was very happy and regretted that it was better to believe in science if I had known that. This incident reminds me of many things. At present, the streets across the country are plastered with “ancestral special kidney disease recipes”, “old military doctors specializing in kidney disease” and so on street trick, of which there is no financial obsession, by medical fraud? I remember a philosopher said: in the marketplace to sell the loudest people, often the worst goods people. Throughout the ages, why have we ever seen famous hospitals and experts with real skills advertised in newspapers or posted all over the street? Medical proof, kidney patients should be treated early, the earlier the better the results. It should be especially noted that some kidney diseases are not primary (i.e. the cause of onset is unknown). Rather, they are secondary to other systemic diseases such as lupus erythematosus, whose treatment is different. However, sometimes the clinical manifestations are very similar, and even experienced doctors sometimes cannot diagnose them accurately without detailed laboratory tests. If you decide to treat the disease after asking a few questions, as the native doctor did, it is easy to make mistakes. I always think that nowadays, science is becoming more and more advanced, and it seems that the diagnosis is far behind the reality just by asking questions, reading the pulse and looking at the tongue, because many diseases cannot be diagnosed without laboratory tests. Certain diseases can be treated with herbal medicine with good results, and certain diseases can be diagnosed by the traditional Chinese medical diagnosis method of looking, smelling, asking and cutting. However, it should be noted that this is not the whole picture, especially for the diagnosis of kidney diseases. I have started to use Chinese medicine to treat kidney disease more than ten years ago. Since using Chinese medicine, it is necessary to identify and treat the disease. In the process of identification, I found that it is difficult to distinguish whether the kidney disease is primary or secondary without the use of modern laboratory tests. Modern medicine also shows that not only the treatment of primary and secondary nephropathy is different, even in primary nephropathy, there are different types of pathological tissues and different treatment methods. Here, I advise patients suffering from kidney disease, you should first go to a specialist to figure out the diagnosis, and then decide how to treat, this is the wise thing to do. Some kidney disease patients like to see both Western medicine, Chinese and Western medicine together, thinking that this is a combination of Chinese and Western medicine, the disease will be faster. In fact, this is not true. Because Chinese and Western medicines do not understand each other to prescribe what drugs and their pharmacological properties, it is easy to occur in Chinese and Western medicines, not only can not achieve good results, but also the side effects that should not happen. For example, in the kidney syndrome patients with high doses of prednisone, such as the use of nourishing Yin and lowering fire Chinese medicine, can increase the efficacy and reduce the side effects of prednisone, which is the consensus of most nephrologists in China. If you use Chinese medicine that strengthens kidney yang and nourishes qi and blood at this time, the side effects of prednisone will be increased. Therefore, it is not advisable to see a western doctor to take western medicine and at the same time find another Chinese doctor to prescribe Chinese medicine to eat, a mixture of Chinese and western medicine. Of course, I am in favor of the combination of Chinese and Western medicine for renal syndrome patients, which means that a doctor should prescribe both Chinese and Western medicine, or Chinese and Western medicine should work closely together to come up with their own Chinese and Western medicine prescriptions. The mixed treatment of Chinese and Western medicine is not called the combination of Chinese and Western medicine.
