Cervical cancer control – the only completely preventable tumor

Although the incidence of cervical cancer is second only to breast cancer among women, the incidence and mortality rate of cervical cancer has been on a rapid decline in China in the past decade, thanks to the medical understanding of the relationship between HPV infection and cervical cancer development and the development of TCT technology for early diagnosis of precancerous cervical lesions. Because 99% of cervical cancer patients are related to HPV infection, and if surgical treatment can be performed at the precancerous stage of cervical cancer, the 5-year survival rate and cure rate of cervical cancer will be greatly increased. Cervical cancer screening program in healthy population: for women with sexual experience, HPV (human papillomavirus high-risk test) and TCT (cervical fluid-based thin layer cell test) are recommended at the age of 21-65 years, and if both results are negative, the test will be repeated once in 3-5 years; for HPV positive, further colposcopy or observation follow-up will be done according to the titer; when precancerous lesions appear in TCT when treated in gynecological specialties.
