When a baby has a fever after polio vaccination, the appropriate treatment should be chosen according to the specific situation and clinical signs. If there is only a low fever without any clinical signs and symptoms, it is considered a reaction to the vaccination and only requires drinking more warm water. If the fever is accompanied by clinical symptoms, such as respiratory or gastrointestinal symptoms, or if the fever is repeatedly high for more than 24 hours, consider a secondary viral or bacterial infection. In case of secondary viral infection, oral antiviral oral solution can be used for antiviral treatment, together with symptomatic support treatment such as timely fever reduction and dietary management. If there is a bacterial infection, antibiotic treatment is needed, such as amoxicillin or cefaclor.
