Fistula after suburethral cleft surgery

Patient: Description of condition (time of onset, main symptoms, hospital visited, etc.).
The child is now 14 months old and underwent reconstructive surgery for hypospadias at the age of one week. The preoperative penis was in good condition, relatively thick, and the urethral opening was at the coronoid. After surgery, the shape was ideal. However, less than a month later, a fistula appeared near the anterior part of the penis, just below the foreskin, which started as a drip and now became two urinary lines. We are very worried.
Will the fistula continue to get bigger and more serious? Also, we have not used diapers since the surgery, so his penis rubs when he moves around. Is the success rate of the surgery to fix the leak high?

Children’s Hospital Pediatric Urology: Hello, urinary fistula is due to the wound not healing well and has nothing to do with friction. The success rate of urinary fistula repair is relatively higher than that of hypospadias because the repair is less extensive, but it is not certain that the fistula can be repaired successfully in one visit.
