Grey nails are nail changes caused by fungal invasion of the nail plate and underlying nail tissue, often secondary to ringworm, or after trauma to the nail. The causative agent is mostly dermatophytes, followed by Candida and, to a lesser extent, mycobacteria. When the nails appear cloudy, thickened, discoloured and have an uneven surface, you should seek medical attention as soon as possible and take standard treatment.
