Opening the hearts of children with autism with games

The core barriers for children with autism are social interaction disorders and lack of communicative language. Guiding them on how to communicate and interact with others using language is the focus of daily training for parents. The following three types of games are introduced: a. Interaction games In social development games, we can offer interactive role-playing games or pretend games based on the content of a story, depending on the child’s interests. The games can be used to improve communication and cooperation between children, to allow more communication and dialogue between children and partners, to let children experience different role positions, so as to stimulate their interest and promote children’s interaction with peers and oral expression: for example, by playing the “play house” interaction game to guide children. The specific method is to let children play different roles in the family, such as a child is a guest, a child is a host, etc.; prepare small and large boxes and plastic kitchen toys, play pretend games, in the process of the game with the help of good children to drive the children with poor abilities. Guide children to imitate the behavior of others, let children play different roles such as grocery shopping, cooking, etc.; each with their own props, division of labor, so that children in the role of the role at the same time, so that everyone should try to do the role should do the work, so that we have more fun. After many times playing the game of “play house” and role swapping, the children can improve their social skills. Language training games In language communication games, we can play hand puppet games to communicate with children; for example, let children put on a hand puppet each and play different roles, starting with familiar stories such as “Little Rabbit Be Good”. Parents play the roles of the Big Bad Wolf and the mother rabbit, and children play the roles of the little rabbits; during the game, you can add some polite words (such as: thank you, no thanks, etc.), expressions (when the mother rabbit picks many carrots and the little rabbits are happy when they see the carrots; when the Big Bad Wolf wants to enter the little rabbits’ house, the little rabbits are afraid), cooperative behaviors (when the mother rabbit cuts open the belly of the Big Bad Wolf and the little rabbits come out), and the children can play the roles of the rabbits. When the mother rabbit asks the babies to work together to carry the stone into the big wolf’s belly, the children pretend to make the action of carrying the stone); add some dialogues to the story (such as the dialogue between the little rabbits and the mother rabbit, the dialogue between the little rabbits, the dialogue between the little rabbits and the big wolf, etc.), and let the children learn how to communicate with their peers through singing and language expressions throughout the game. Through singing and language expression, children learn how to communicate with their peers and improve their language expression. Perceptual games Perceptual games are games in which the whole game process is based on training perceptual ability and emphasizing the use of perceptual participation. For example, the game of “touching pockets”: we fill the pockets with various toys or daily necessities in advance, and let the children touch the corresponding things according to the requirements; for example, if the parents say “please find the comb”, the children have to touch the comb from the pockets; or the teacher says the characteristics of the objects, such as “please find the round things”. For example, if the teacher says “find a round object”, the child has to feel the round object from his pocket, etc. It is important to make sure that the materials are not visible to the child before playing the game so that the child can tactilely identify the corresponding object. The rehabilitation of autistic children cannot be achieved without the joint participation of parents, love and patience are the medicine to cure children’s heart disease, open the heart of autistic children with games, let them out of loneliness, into the colorful world of enthusiasm, for the sake of children’s tomorrow, let us work together!
