The rash was further reduced, the pus head was reduced, the swelling was reduced and the rash was decreased. Bai Hu Tang was given with Da Qing Ye 10 g, Lian Qiao 30 g, Lotus Leaf 10 g, Jin Yin Hua 15 g, Dan Pi 10, Red Peony 10, Sheng Di Tan 30 g. At the fourth consultation, the patient’s itching and pain were mild, the facial cysts were significantly reduced, and there was a small amount of pus head. Only the red patches near the corners of both lower jaws were swollen and hard. The patient was cured in 2 months after taking the above formula with additional reduction. The patient’s initial chilliness and lack of fever were considered as a result of the previous bitter-cold herbal medicine damaging Yang Qi. Damp-heat vaporization forces fluid to leak out, resulting in excessive sweating. Therefore, at the first consultation, we gave warm gall bladder soup to regulate Qi, resolve phlegm, clear the gall bladder and harmonize the stomach. A week later, Prof. Liu Huawei consulted the patient and concluded that the patient was suffering from a Qi lesion and insomnia was a sign of heat entering Ying-Yin. The patient’s sweating must have depleted Qi and injured Yin, so he used Shengyi Drink to tonify both Qi and Yin, and on this basis he gave Poria, Zelig, Huanglian, Fried Atractylodes, and Fu Ling to resolve dampness to avoid nourishing Yin and retaining evil. Lianjia, lotus leaf and jingyinhua penetrate and disperse the evil, and perform the function of penetrating the Ying and transforming the Qi. At the third consultation, the patient’s insomnia disappeared and the pulse was moderate and slightly slippery. Prof. Liu Huawei analyzed that the patient’s heat in the qi division had been removed. Dangpi, red peony, and raw earth charcoal have cooling effect on blood and blood activation, which can reduce the inflammatory evidence of skin lesions.
