When does prostate cancer require radiation therapy?

When prostate cancer reaches an advanced stage, such as localized invasion of the seminal vesicles and infiltration of the pelvic tissue, pelvic wall and abdominal wall, it cannot be removed surgically and can only be treated palliatively, usually with radiotherapy. The main goal is to prevent the progression and spread of the disease, usually with radioactive particle implantation and three-dimensional conformal radiotherapy, which can confine the invaded part of the tumor and prevent the disease from progressing to a more aggressive level. The treatment of prostate cancer is not ideal for the advanced stage of prostate cancer, but currently, anti-androgen therapy is recommended along with radiotherapy. If androgen resistance occurs, higher level drugs such as abiraterone and enzalutamide will be chosen, which can alleviate the progression of advanced disease to some extent. Therefore the disease malignancy of prostate cancer is not very high, early detection and early diagnosis can achieve clinical cure.
