As of February 3, 2020, there are still no effective antiviral drugs for novel coronaviruses, and patients who are cured currently rely on the body’s own immunity to kill the virus.
The main clinical treatment measures are isolation and rest and appropriate symptomatic management to avoid life-threatening complications. Confirmed cases should be admitted to designated hospitals, and nutritional support therapy should be strengthened to ensure adequate calories, maintain water-electrolyte balance, and pay attention to monitoring blood and urine routines and biochemical indicators.
Currently, the main antiviral regimens tried clinically are α-interferon nebulized inhalation, oral lopinavir/ritonavir, or the addition of ribavirin intravenously, and patients in critical condition are usually admitted to ICU for monitoring and treatment.
