Why does depression lead to thyroid tumor?

Due to my work, I have contacted many thyroid tumor patients in the clinic and found a phenomenon that the ratio of men to women in this disease is seriously disproportionate, with female patients being about 3~4 times more than male patients. The explanation given by modern medicine is the difference caused by different estrogen levels, but this explanation cannot satisfy me. After studying the theory of body composition in Chinese medicine, this reason was finally found by me. The reason why there are so many female patients is because of one of the most common body types determined by women, and that is – qi-depression body type. What is qi-depression? It is often said that people live with a breath of qi. Qi is the driving force of various physiological activities in the human body and is popular in all organs, meridians and other tissues and organs throughout the body, and its importance to health is self-evident. When there is a problem with the operation of qi, people will get sick. The qi-depressed body is precisely the qi is blocked, the flow is not moving. Over time, it will not be able to drive the blood and fluids to run, making it blocked down and causing various pathologies. The organ in charge of qi flow in the human body is the liver, the liver’s physiological function is normal, so that people can have smooth qi flow, full of energy. When there is a problem with the drainage function of the liver, the qi of the whole body cannot run smoothly, and since the liver meridian passes through the neck (thyroid gland), the neck is the area where the qi is most likely to be depressed. When Qi stagnation leads to blood stasis and phlegm stagnation, nodules will appear in the thyroid gland and lymph nodes will appear in the neck. What are the causes of Qi-depressed body? The physiological functions of human organs are greatly affected by emotions. We have all heard the saying “anger hurts the liver, happiness hurts the heart, thought hurts the spleen, worry hurts the lungs, and fear hurts the kidneys”. We all have this experience, when people are depressed, angry, sad, can not eat, those who are happy all day long are fat people with a good appetite. The most important reason for the formation of qi-depressed body is a long-term bad mood, or suddenly suffer a strong mental stimulation. The young thyroid tumor patients seen in the clinic are either white-collar workers with high work pressure or top students with huge learning pressure. When people reach middle age, they are in the critical moment of having an old man and a young one, they need to worry about everything and work hard all the time, if they don’t know how to combine work and rest, and give themselves a proper vacation to relax, the qi and blood vessels will be blocked. Therefore, the proportion of middle-aged women in the qi-depressed physique is very large. Besides the reason of anger, great mental stimulation is also an important factor that leads to thyroid tumor induced by qi-depressed constitution. I have a middle-aged female patient who is usually good and cheerful, but because of the sudden death of her mother, she was devastated and suffered from thyroid tumor after several months of depression and grief, and finally recovered after two years of treatment. You can notice that there are more and more friends around who are suffering from physical illness due to mental stimulation. Foreign psychiatrist Vailant has pointed out that the mental suffering of a person is equivalent to the physical health damage for at least 5 years. Also, genetic factors cannot be ignored, especially for adolescent patients. It can be said that behind every young thyroid cancer patient, there must be an anxious, sensitive, suspicious and timid parent, sometimes it may be two. If a child grows up in such a depressing and negative family atmosphere, the formation of a qi-depressed physique will be a natural thing if he or she does not know how to reduce and regulate it. That’s why I always advise parents of affected children not to push their children, and not to lecture them too much. In fact, they all understand, and they are also very tired. One last thing is that improper diet can also lead to the formation of qi-depression. In addition to regulating the body’s qi, the liver also has an important function of metabolizing food with the gallbladder. Regular consumption of greasy meat and fish will lead to the accumulation of too much fat and other large molecules in the liver gallbladder, resulting in fatty liver, liver hemangioma, gallstones, cholesterol crystals, gallbladder polyps and other symptoms, and once these metabolites are not discharged in time, they will lead to the accumulation of liver qi and eventually the formation of qi depression throughout the body. What are the personality characteristics of qi-depressed body? When it comes to qi depression, we have to mention one person, Lin Daiyu in “Dream of the Red Chamber”. She gives the impression that she is very sad, sad, all over the body emits a pitying and loving melancholy temperament. Cao Xueqin said at the beginning of the book that Lin’s sister “has a lingering intention”, and it is this lingering intention that makes Lin’s sister depressed all day long, often throwing small tantrums, even worrying about falling flowers and grieving over withered leaves, Lin’s sister is a typical qi-depressed body. The personality of people with qi-depression physique and Lin sister similar, most introverted and unstable, sensitive and suspicious. Often feel sullen, low mood, very easy to nervous, anxious, sentimental, and easily frightened, most timid, a little stimulus will cause an emotional reaction. As the pressure on women in social life increases, this performance becomes more obvious. Although such personality traits can not be considered a disease, but already in a subhealthy state, in the long run, it is only a matter of time before you get sick. What diseases are Qi-depressed people prone to? When liver qi is not drained, qi stagnates and stays in the local area, causing localized fullness and pain in the body. Due to the narrowing of the neck, Qi and blood are most likely to be blocked around the thyroid gland, and in many cases, the painful areas are on the sides of the liver meridian and the female breast. This kind of pain is a wandering pain, which often disappears on its own after a period of time, often after mood swings or eating greasy food. Bilateral neck pain is more likely to occur after thyroid tumor surgery due to the disruption of the neck meridians. In most cases, no substantial lumps can be felt in this type of emphysema, but localized lumps or enlarged lymph nodes will appear after stagnation for a long time. Due to the blockage of qi, people with qi-depressed constitution also often have a feeling of chest tightness and often sigh for no reason, after sighing, the qi will be unblocked for a short time and people will be more comfortable. Sometimes it is also accompanied by panic, fast heartbeat, hiccups and other discomforts, which are all manifestations of poor Qi flow in the chest. In addition, poor liver qi directly affects digestive and metabolic functions, and chronic gastritis, chronic enteritis, cholecystitis, gallbladder stones, hepatitis, and hepatic hemangioma are common lesions. People with qi-depressed constitution are also very prone to insomnia, depression, migraine and other neuropsychiatric symptoms. Women are mostly associated with gynecological diseases such as irregular menstruation, uterine fibroids and ovarian tumors. The qi-depressed constitution is less adaptable to the environment, especially rainy weather will aggravate the qi depression in the whole body, and will often have more serious local pain, shortness of breath, palpitations, indigestion and other symptoms at this time.
