How to face the confusion of menopause syndrome?

Menopause is a physiological phenomenon in the natural course of a woman’s life, which marks the failure of ovarian function and the loss of fertility. The average age of menopause for women in China is 50 years old, but in fact, after the age of 40, ovarian function begins to decline, and estrogen secretion gradually decreases; after the age of 45, estrogen levels drop sharply, resulting in disorders of the plant nervous system and complex systemic symptoms, which shows that modern medicine believes that the disease is mainly related to the decline of estrogen. Traditional Chinese medicine, on the other hand, believes that human fertility is related to the kidneys, which is caused by the failure of kidney energy, deficiency of yin and blood, and imbalance of yin and yang in the heart and liver. However, hormone therapy has certain side effects and may pose a potential cancer risk, such as patients with a family history of breast cancer, uterine fibroids and excessive endometrial hyperplasia. Therefore, HRT must be used under the guidance of a specialist, and the treatment plan must be formulated according to the individual situation, and regular follow-up and physical examination must be conducted. For most patients with mild symptoms or those who cannot receive HRT for various reasons, we suggest using Chinese herbal medicine for treatment. Generally, Chinese medicine uses methods such as nourishing the liver and kidneys, strengthening the spleen and benefiting the qi, calming the heart and tranquilizing the mind, balancing the yin and yang, harmonizing the qi and blood, and improving the immunity of the body to regulate the endocrine disorder caused by the imbalance of sex hormones. The essence of TCM is the holistic concept and evidence-based treatment, emphasizing the relationship between environment, society, character and disease, with personalized and comprehensive treatment means, which has unique treatment advantages for the disease. It is different from hormone replacement therapy, but a kind of “mobilization” therapy to improve the internal environment of the body, which has the effect of slowing down aging, promoting health, beauty and other health care prevention. At the same time, we suggest that women in this age group should treat perimenopausal syndrome correctly, maintain an optimistic and upbeat spirit, and actively participate in social activities; pay attention to their appearance and dress appropriately, because good appearance, demeanor and manners will increase their confidence; adjust their diet, reduce the amount of food, eat more cereals, animal and vegetable proteins, fresh fruits and vegetables, and limit sweets, fats and salt; strengthen exercise, but within the limits of their ability. Gradually; pay attention to the cleanliness of the pubic area; every 3 to 6 months for gynecological examination.
