Male infertility, 1 year according to the World Health Organization criteria, is defined as a history of uncontraceptive sexual intercourse for at least 12 months without conception of the woman. Primary male infertility is when a man has never impregnated a woman. Secondary male infertility is when a man has ever impregnated a woman. In general, men with secondary infertility have a greater chance of regaining their fertility than those with primary infertility. Generally, about 80% to 85% of couples become pregnant in the first year of marriage, about 10% to 15% of couples become pregnant in the second year, and if infertility persists for more than 3 years, one should be wary. The vast majority of infertility patients come to the clinic because they have been married for many years and are infertile, with no other discomfort, and it is only when they undergo the relevant aspects of physical examination and laboratory tests that they find abnormalities.
