What diseases are caused by ankylosing spondylitis?

Ankylosing spondylitis may be related to genetic factors, abnormal immune function, pathogen infection, which may cause iritis, aortitis, fragility fracture and other diseases.
1. Iritis: Ankylosing spondylitis is a systemic disease, and the involvement of this disease in the eye can lead to iritis, and the patient may have symptoms such as photophobia, tearing, eye redness, blurred vision, and so on. Usually, both eyes are affected successively and then recur alternately, but there is no obvious correlation between ankylosing spondylitis-induced iritis and the activity of ankylosing spondylitis disease for the time being.
2. Aortitis: aortitis caused by ankylosing spondylitis involving the aorta can lead to joint pain, fatigue, weight loss, fever and other symptoms, and some patients may also experience chest tightness, headache and other symptoms.
3. Fragility fracture: patients with advanced ankylosing spondylitis may suffer from severe osteoporosis due to a serious decrease in bone density, which may lead to fractures.
Ankylosing spondylitis may also cause other complications, and it is recommended that patients go to the rheumatology and immunology departments of regular hospitals for detailed consultation.
