How can young adult men identify varicocele?

Varicocele is a common disease in young and middle-aged men, which is caused by the dilatation, tortuosity and elongation of the vascular plexus of the spermatic cord (vascular plexus) due to the stagnation of blood flow in the spermatic cord, which can be accompanied by testicular atrophy and impaired sperm production, resulting in male infertility. The incidence is 10-15% in the male population and 15-20% in male infertility. The disease mostly occurs on the left side, but bilateral onset is not uncommon and can be as high as 20%. As the incidence of this disease is relatively high, most patients do not have obvious discomfort, it is easy to be ignored, and most patients are often ill for years or even decades when they are seen, especially for male reproductive health risks. So how can young men identify whether they are suffering from varicocele? The author believes that the main thing is to have the awareness of male self-care, and frequent self-examinations are a simple and practical method of self-care. Self-examination starts with the male internal and external genitalia, and to check whether varicocele exists, we need to follow the principles of left and right comparison, standing and lying down examination, taking visual and palpation. First of all, when standing, observe whether the scrotum is sagging from the appearance, compare the left scrotum with the right scrotum, if one side is sagging more, observe the scrotal skin blood vessel filling and thickening and tortuous, then there is a high possibility of varicocele; when lying down, the filling and tortuous blood vessels become smaller or disappear, then there may be varicocele. Then palpation, when standing, painless worm-like masses can be found in the scrotum, if not found or not obvious, we need to hold our breath to increase abdominal pressure, if tortuous vein masses can be found in the scrotum, varicocele is more likely to exist, it is worth noting that we need to compare the left and right scrotum, if we find which side is different, which side is more likely to have varicocele; when lying down, we can find tortuous vein masses in the scrotum The presence of varicocele is possible if the tortuous veins in the scrotum become smaller or disappear when lying down. Secondly, we need to pay attention to the presence of scrotal swelling, vague pain or scrotal dampness and other discomfort, especially fatigue, long time standing, more strenuous exercise such as running, playing ball, etc., the scrotal swelling vague pain aggravated, lying down when resting, early in the morning when the whole body feels particularly relaxed, there may be varicocele. Finally, you need to be alert to the fact that male infertility may be related to varicocele. If you do not find any of the above-mentioned abnormalities and discomforts when you are suffering from failure to have the next generation, you cannot exclude the possibility of having varicocele and need to go to the hospital to check whether there is varicocele with the help of modern medical equipment color Doppler. If you have any of the above mentioned manifestations or are not sure, it is necessary to go to the hospital as soon as possible for early diagnosis and early treatment.
