How to treat stage III lung cancer

A small number of stage 3 lung cancers have the opportunity of surgery and can be selected for surgical resection, but after surgery patients must undergo adjuvant chemotherapy or radiotherapy to prevent recurrence and metastasis. For stage 3b patients with pleural effusion, surgery is generally not recommended. Treatment options are similar to those for advanced lung cancer, mainly radiotherapy, chemotherapy and targeted therapy. The commonly used chemotherapy regimens are pemetrexed plus platinum, gemcitabine plus platinum, and docetaxel plus platinum. If patients cannot tolerate chemotherapy, they can choose targeted therapy. Patients should undergo genetic testing before targeted therapy, and if the genetic test results suggest a mutation in the gene, they can take oral ERSA and often receive good results.
