The most common form of thyroiditis is subacute thyroiditis secondary to an upper respiratory tract infection, which also presents with anterior neck pain. In the acute phase, the patient can take oral NSAIDs and celecoxib, and the patient’s symptoms can gradually improve. Some patients have hyperthyroidism due to nodules or multiple nodules in the thyroid gland, which may also manifest as swelling of the gland. Some patients with malignant tumors of the thyroid gland may also show an increase in the size of the thyroid gland and may even have local or adjacent organ damage.
