Risks of chin augmentation surgery

Expanded body chin pad surgery, also known as expandable implant chin augmentation, is done through the oral mucosal incision or skin incision, will be sculpted and shaped expandable prosthesis placed in the mandible chin front and lower edge, can effectively correct the chin shrinkage and part of the short defects. Postoperative complications such as infection, hematoma and improper position of the prosthesis may occur as follows: 1. Infection: the poor anti-infection ability of the expanded body, because the expanded body is a kind of porous material, long-term exposure to the air will also carry bacteria, and these bacteria will lead to the occurrence of near-term or long-term infection, such as redness, swelling, heat, pain and so on in the early stage. Once infection occurs in chin augmentation, the prosthesis needs to be removed to control the infection; 2, hematoma: because the implantation cavity can not stop bleeding, coagulation mechanism disorder can occur local hematoma. In order to prevent hematoma, the compression bandage should be removed about 5 days after surgery; 3. Improper position of the prosthesis: it is manifested as the prosthesis leaving the midline, shifting to the left, right or upward or downward. If the prosthesis is shifted downward, it can make the lower lip groove disappear. If the prosthesis is shifted, it is necessary to re-implant the prosthesis and fix it securely; 4, difficult to take out the prosthesis: once the surgery fails, it is especially difficult to take out the expanding body, especially when the autologous tissue has been grown into the expanding body microporous, it is more difficult to take out, and it is more likely to cause trauma and lead to the damage of the facial nerve and the damage of the chin nerve; 5, prosthesis rejection reaction: the long-term swelling doesn’t subside, and the local skin is red and itchy.
