If prostate cancer patients have leg pain, they need to go to the hospital for further examination to rule out the presence of femoral metastasis and then treat the pain symptomatically.1. If prostate cancer progresses and causes femoral metastasis resulting in leg pain, the treatment is relatively tricky. Firstly, treatment of the primary disease of prostate cancer is needed, such as giving endocrine therapy or radical prostate treatment. Secondly, metastasis symptoms should be controlled, such as intravenous zoledronate to suppress bone metastasis and reduce bone pain. Finally, oral pain medications are needed, such as diclofenac sodium capsule in the early stage and morphine sulfate extended-release tablets and oxycodone tablets in the later stage to treat cancer pain and improve the patient’s quality of life. 2. If the prostate gland has not metastasized and the leg pain is caused by bone and joint disease, it is recommended to go to orthopedics for specialist treatment. The examination includes MRI of the prostate and serum PSA level to understand whether there is progression of prostate cancer. If the PSA level is well controlled, then continue to use the original medication to control the prostate cancer and prevent bone metastasis from occurring.
