How to overcome the phobia of injections

Overcoming fear requires cognitive correction and can be done through systematic psychotherapy, such as cognitive correction and behavioral training to overcome fear. Fear of needles is a very normal psychological phenomenon. People’s aversion and fear of dangerous things, sharp objects, and pain are motivated by their own protection, so it is natural to psychologically reject needles, but this fear can be overcome. For a person of sound mind, the advantages and disadvantages of injections should be properly evaluated. The pros are that it can treat disease, prevent disease, and also assist in medical examinations to maintain health, and the cons are a moment of pain. Obviously, it is acceptable to endure a moment of pain for the sake of the health of the body. Cognitive correction can be done by mentally telling oneself that the injection is something that must be done for health and something that cannot be avoided, that one can fear the injection but still need it, and thus go on to accept the act of getting the injection. Behavioral training to overcome fear is usually composed of two parts: selection of exposure and systematic desensitization. The exposure scenario is divided into several levels, for example, level 1 is imagining the word injection, level 2 is seeing a picture of an injection, level 3 is imagining past scenarios where one had an injection, level 4 is being on the site of an injection, and level 5 is that one is about to have an injection. After the scenarios were graded, desensitization was gradually carried out to overcome the first level scenario, i.e., to overcome the fear when imagining the word injection, and then to overcome the second level scenario, i.e., to overcome the fear even when seeing the picture of the injection. Gradually overcome each level of fear, and eventually achieve the purpose of overcoming the fear of needles, this process does not have to be rushed, you can slowly carry out in life, gradually escalate, after a period of training, and eventually be able to achieve the purpose of overcoming the fear of needles.
