How to achieve eugenics?
Conception is the beginning of a new life. From sperm and egg – fertilized egg – embryo – fetus – newborn – adult is an important chain of quality of life. The quality of life is influenced by genetics, the health of the parents, the quality of the gametes, the environment at the time of conception and the perinatal environment. Recent epidemiological evidence suggests that the environment of the fetus in the womb is not only related to the perinatal prognosis but also to its health in adulthood.
Therefore, in order to have healthy and intelligent offspring, we must take appropriate preventive and intervention measures during the perinatal period to address the many factors that affect eugenics, in order to achieve a “clear pregnancy and safe eugenics”, maximize the normal development of the embryo, improve the innate quality of the offspring, and reduce birth defects.
To achieve eugenics, we need to start from the following links and aspects.
1, premarital consultation and examination
Premarital counseling and examination and health guidance is the first stop to prevent birth defects. Through examination and investigation of medical history, doctors determine the presence of serious diseases, congenital malformations, hereditary diseases or infectious diseases that affect marriage and childbirth, so as to provide specific guidance on marriage and childbirth and avoid misfortune and harm to marriage, family and offspring.
2.Pre-conception counseling and preparation
Just as the quality of seeds and the soil determine the harvest of crops, the health of human life depends on the quality of eggs and sperm and the nutritional environment for fetal growth. Since it takes about two months for the sperm to mature and about one month for the diet and nutritional preparation for pregnancy to be fully effective, couples need to start pre-conception counseling and preparation at least three to four months in advance to try to create an excellent environment and conditions for the maturation of sperm and eggs, and to plan pregnancy with adequate preparation to minimize birth defects and promote eugenics. The reason is that “life can only go forward, not backward”, do not wait for pregnancy and regret not to be prepared early worry about fetal development problems and worry, or deformities have already formed and it is too late to regret!
(1) The best age for childbirth: 24-29 years old for women and 25-30 years old for men. (The older the female, the higher the rate of fetal malformation after pregnancy; the male is too old, the rate of sperm mutation and chromosomal aberration increases accordingly.)
(2) Health examination for both parties before pregnancy: it is one of the necessary conditions to ensure eugenic offspring. Therefore, before preparing for pregnancy, both partners should consciously go to the health care department for consultation and comprehensive examination and receive professional guidance. If factors or diseases affecting eugenics are found in the couple, the pregnancy plan should be suspended until the condition is stabilized or cured.
(3) Genetic counseling: Those who have a family history of genetic diseases or have given birth to children with genetic diseases, deformed children, children with low intelligence, a history of bad pregnancy and childbirth, infertility for many years, those who are older than 35 years old, and those who have been exposed to a bad environment for a long time should undergo eugenic genetic counseling before pregnancy to assess the risk of pregnancy, investigate the causes in advance and provide treatment and intervention for the causes.
(4) Adjustment of physical and mental status: both parties should release mental stress and be psychologically prepared for conception; adjust the rhythm of life, get up and down regularly, combine work and rest, exercise properly, maintain a healthy lifestyle and change bad habits; avoid high-intensity work; arrange the conception day reasonably and avoid conception during illness. It is better to control the weight to the ideal level before pregnancy.
(5) Strengthen diet and nutrition: adequate and reasonable nutrition helps maintain the reproductive function of both sexes and the development of cells of both sexes. The normal reproductive function and high quality reproductive cells are the primary conditions for achieving eugenics. Therefore, the couple should pay attention to the reasonable arrangement of diet 3-4 months before pregnancy, try to achieve diversity, not partial food and not picky food, so that the nutrition is balanced and comprehensive, in order to ensure that the germ cell development and maturity of the nutrition required to supply sufficient.
(6) Avoid exposure to toxic and harmful substances and adverse environment: avoid exposure to harmful substances such as lead, mercury and its compounds, carbon disulfide, gasoline, benzene, arsenic and pesticides from at least 3 months before pregnancy; avoid exposure to ionizing radiation, high temperature, noise, vibration and other adverse environment; avoid close contact with pets; avoid going to public places where people gather to avoid virus infection; avoid using drugs that may affect the quality of germ cells and embryonic development; quit using drugs that may affect the quality of germ cells and embryonic development. Avoid using drugs that may affect the quality of germ cells and embryonic development; quit smoking, alcohol and drugs, and avoid coffee and tea. (Lead can cause sperm motility, reduced number, increased malformation, female infertility, miscarriage, premature birth, low birth weight babies, and mental retardation of offspring. Mercury can cause sperm-egg aberrations and chromosome structure abnormalities resulting in multiple deformities. Carbon disulfide can cause sexual dysfunction in men and predispose women to spontaneous abortion, neonatal precocious heart, central nervous system defects and abdominal defects. Ionizing radiation can damage gonadal function in men and women, and exposure during pregnancy can cause fetal microcephaly, mental retardation, growth restriction, and tumors after birth. High temperature reduces fertility and can cause anencephaly. Noise vibration can cause spontaneous abortion and intrauterine growth restriction in pregnant women. (Male smoking damages sperm, female smoking can cause low weight babies, fetal cleft lip and palate, precocious heart, cancer in childhood, etc.)
(7) Pre-pregnancy immunization: such as hepatitis B immunization, rubella immunization, varicella immunization, tuberculosis immunization, etc., preferably after 3 months of immunization before pregnancy.
(8) Folic acid supplementation 0.4mg~0.8mg/d starting at least 3 months before pregnancy for both spouses: pregnant women with previous neural tube defects need to take 4mg/d. Evidence from evidence-based medicine shows that preconception and early pregnancy supplementation with trace folic acid can significantly reduce the risk of neural tube defects and reduce the risk of umbilical bulge and preeclampsia. (Neural tube defects are a group of central nervous system anomalies including anencephaly, open spina bifida and bulging brain that are caused by impaired closure of the neural tube during fetal life or re-perforation for other reasons after closure. (Folic acid deficiency not only causes neural tube malformation, but also is closely associated with preeclampsia, placental abruption, intrauterine growth restriction, preterm birth, megaloblastic anemia and low birth weight babies.)
(9) Routine oral examination and care before pregnancy: take targeted measures when necessary to avoid serious dental disease after pregnancy that is difficult to handle and even affects fetal health.
Pregnancy is not advisable in the following cases.
(1) when taking medication for a disease.
(2) When smoking and drinking excessively.
(3) within 3 months of X-ray examination.
(4) in case of high fever or acute infectious diseases
(5) when one of the spouses has a sexually transmitted disease
(6) When the female partner is suffering from heart, liver or kidney disease and needs to conceive under the guidance of a specialist.
(7) Long-term exposure to radioactive substances or toxic substances, requiring more than six months of separation before conception.
In short, the couple should dedicate the best vital condition and nutrition to the process of sperm-egg maturation and union, so that the next generation of life will start from the highest starting point.
3. Pay attention to health care and monitoring during pregnancy
The ten months of development of the embryo and fetus in the mother’s womb is a crucial period in one’s life. The mother and the fetus are closely related, and the mother’s health and nutrition, and her emotional state of mind are directly related to the growth and development of the fetus, and the health of the baby after birth and even after adulthood.
(1) Regular check-ups: Pregnant women should be aware of active health care and should go to the hospital for check-ups in a timely manner after early pregnancy is confirmed, especially if they have a history of embryonic abortion or spontaneous miscarriage, and should not blindly keep the fetus at home. Establish a perinatal health care handbook in time and go to the hospital for regular pregnancy health care checkups so as to get professional guidance on nutrition, monitoring and eugenics during pregnancy, and to detect high-risk factors and comorbidities as early as possible and provide timely targeted treatment.
(2) Prevention of disease and malformation: The first two weeks after fertilization are relatively insensitive to teratogens, while 3-8 weeks after fertilization is the period of embryonic organogenesis, which is most sensitive to teratogens. Therefore, special attention should be paid to prevention of teratology during early pregnancy. During the fetal period, the central nervous system, reproductive system and eyes and ears are continuously sensitive to teratogens, so pregnant women should try to avoid contact with toxic and harmful physical and chemical environment, avoid going to crowded and noisy places, prevent viral infection and disease, do not take medicine by themselves, and avoid smoking and alcohol and drugs.
(3) Pregnancy nutrition: From the first moment your baby is conceived in your body, your pregnancy nutrition will affect his or her whole life, not only during the fetal period, infancy and childhood, but also in adulthood. The Doha theory shows that the early 1000 days of life is the most important period for a lifetime of health. The intake of proper and balanced nutrition during this period will help reduce the risk of chronic diseases such as obesity, diabetes and cardiovascular diseases in the child’s adult life.
The embryonic and fetal period is the fastest growing period in the human body and has a huge demand for nutrients from the mother, so proper nutrition during pregnancy is crucial. In general, it is important to diversify the diet, correct the partial diet, eat more meat, eggs, soy products, dairy products and fresh vegetables and fruits, and eat less spicy and stimulating foods, and match meat and vegetables with a balanced and comprehensive diet. But not eat whatever you want, eat as much as you want, do not over-nutrition and single diet.
(4) Mental health: pregnant women are prone to anxiety, depression, compulsion, hostility, fear and other mental health problems, which can cause embryonic dysplasia, miscarriage, cleft lip and palate and other malformations. Pregnant women should learn to regulate themselves psychologically, be good at controlling and relieving unhealthy emotions, and maintain a stable, optimistic and good state of mind; health care workers and families of pregnant women should also work together to create a relaxed and warm atmosphere to help pregnant women reduce stress and adapt to the discomfort caused by various changes during pregnancy, so that the fetus has a good and safe environment for growth.
(5) Health care: during pregnancy, we should combine work and rest, moderate exercise and exercise, avoid heavy physical labor and strenuous exercise; abstain from sex; pay attention to personal hygiene, and keep the living environment quiet and tidy.
(6) fetal education: the ancients have long been aware of the role of “fetal education”. In the “biography of women” recorded: “too Ren, Wang Ji married as a concubine …… and its body, the eyes do not see evil colors, ears do not listen to obscene sounds, the mouth does not say proudly, can teach the child by fetus, and the birth of King Wen.” Pregnant women’s good mind emotions, positive to good behavior, warm and harmonious family environment, and active and positive communication between the baby is the best fetal education, has an important positive impact on the offspring’s intellectual development and mental health.
(7) Pregnancy medication: As early as in the Nei Jing, there is a theory about the use of medication during pregnancy “there is a reason not to perish, but also not to perish”. That is to say, if there is really a disease or evil in pregnancy, even though the use of strong drugs will not harm the mother, nor will it damage the fetus. But in the process of using the medicine must “stop when the majority of it is broken”, do not overuse. Pregnant women must go to the hospital in a timely manner, do not worry too much about the impact of drugs and delayed treatment, the consequences of which may be more serious.
(8) prenatal screening and prenatal diagnosis: is an important way to prevent birth defects to achieve eugenics and links. The former is only a screening for the risk of certain birth defects, the results only suggest the risk of a birth defect, not a diagnostic test, prenatal screening of positive pregnant women must also be prenatal diagnosis. The latter is a diagnostic test for certain birth defects, the results of which are a diagnostic conclusion. (Subjects of prenatal diagnosis: pregnant women of advanced age whose due date is ≥ 35 years old; excessive or low amniotic fluid; abnormal fetal development or suspected malformations; exposure to substances that may cause congenital defects in the fetus during early pregnancy; family history of genetic diseases or having delivered a child with severe congenital defects; having had more than 2 miscarriages, stillbirths or neonatal deaths; high risk of screening results)
Also of special note are.
Women of childbearing age with fertility requirements, even if they take contraceptive measures, such as suffering from a disease, must not use the drug casually without being able to determine whether pregnancy, otherwise it will be difficult to decide the trade-off in the event of pregnancy.
