How high is the failure rate that leads to blindness?

”I understand that when the network talks about failure rates, they are actually asking how high the success rate is. In professional terms, we don’t talk about success rates.” The experts interviewed said that the word “success rate” is not usually used to evaluate myopia surgery, but there is a professional evaluation system. The so-called safety is evaluated by the difference in corrected visual acuity before and after surgery. “Before surgery with glasses, the vision is 1.0, after surgery with glasses (of course, it is possible that this degree is 0) can see 1.0, the ratio is 1:1, then the safety index is 1, that is, safe. If it is below 1, then it is slightly less safe. A large number of cases have statistics above 1, so the surgery is safe.” Effectiveness refers to the level of post-operative vision restoration, whether it is at the level required for the patient to be glasses-free. “For example, if you have 100 people, how many naked eyes reach 0.5 and how many naked eyes reach 1.0, basically there are so two levels. Generally the former can reach 100%, the latter is more than 90%. Of course, this should be distinguished from different people and different requirements. Some people I do not need to do naked eyes to see far 1.0, because to consider his to 45 years old up and down to face presbyopia, I can leave him a little near-sighted, a little later to wear presbyopic glasses, so that you can take into account both near and far.” Precision is better understood as the control of the nearsightedness of the eyes by doing the surgery. “For example, if I want to remove 500 degrees, is 500 degrees removed after surgery, it’s called precision. The general standard will be ±1.0D. Now it is more accurate, can go to ±0.25D. With the development of technical equipment, now the accuracy is higher and higher, basically I want to do how much can do how much. And in terms of visual acuity, the difference of one line on the visual acuity table is equivalent to a difference of 25 degrees in the lens, that is, 0.25D is the smallest unit of the human eye, which is very precise.” Stability is taking post-operative vision and comparing it to six months or a year after surgery. A line is drawn for several values and stability is judged by the slope of the line. “Now so many years of clinical proof, the effect of myopia surgery is very stable.” This effect also has to exclude some special cases, including the patient’s own myopia is still developing and the eye axis continues to grow causing the vision to recede.
