To others, children with autism look like they are under a spell, enclosed in a nightmare that we cannot know. When it is suspected and confirmed that a child is autistic, some parents’ first thought is not about the future development of their child, but to hide the truth, fearing to face the strange eyes of their friends and relatives. This makes it difficult for the child to receive timely and effective treatment and training, and may miss the best training time. For the sake of their children’s future, parents must not panic, but put themselves in the right mindset and learn the right rehabilitation methods to help them maximize their current situation. 1. Turn training into play: Teaching these children to interact consciously with others starts with getting them interested in communication. A better way to do this is to learn over a long period of time to imitate the gestures, movements, words, expressions, ways of expressing and responding to each other, and interaction skills of their loved ones. During this long process, it is best to combine the content of daily life with the training, turning boring training into interesting games, so that the child will gradually feel that this is a fun activity, and then become interested in parents, i.e. in “people”. At the same time, take your child out of the house and look around; help him find a small partner and expand his life, which is good for the child’s desire to interact. 2, always talk to your child: most children with autism have delayed language development, so learning to speak becomes a problem. Language training can be done in stages. The preparation phase teaches the child to imitate the parent’s mouth movements, so that the child knows what to do on command and understands the meaning of certain actions. The next step is the “monophonic” training, a more effective way is to combine with the child’s life, with the child’s favorite food and toys to learn some vocabulary, to develop the child’s gaze and look with the parents, so that they can imitate the mother and father’s mouth pronunciation. Inaccurate pronunciation does not need to be corrected in a short time. When the monosyllabic words are better, you can start to teach him to learn the bisyllabic words and infuse them with cognition. With these “pavement”, then do simple question and answer training, so that he can learn to express their needs and communication. 3. Capture their excitement: Most autistic children are self-absorbed, rejecting anything new, new changes, and lacking initiative, but they are obsessed with things that interest them. Therefore, you should be good at finding and capturing your child’s excitement, and give multiple information stimulation to the things he is interested in. For example, if a child likes to play with water repeatedly, it is good to prepare hot, cold and warm water for him and perceive it carefully with him; to understand the different forms of water; to experience the changes in the size of the water flow; to perceive the amount of capacity and so on. With this as a breakthrough, other information that can be found everywhere in life can be conveyed to children in time, and certain stereotypical behavior patterns in them can be worn down with the help of multifaceted information stimulation. In addition, appropriate sensory integration training for children, such as climbing, swinging, walking balance beam, jumping rope is also beneficial to improve their slow reaction and uncoordinated movements.
