Mental retardation and its treatment

Mental retardation (MR), also known as mental retardation, is a condition in which an individual’s general intellectual functioning is significantly lower than that of his or her peers during the developmental period (before the age of 18 years) and is accompanied by deficits in adaptive behaviors.MR is one of the most important causes of disability in human beings all over the world, and it is a serious threat to the physical and mental health of children, as well as a heavy burden on the society and families. It seriously jeopardizes children’s physical and mental health and imposes a heavy burden on society and families. Therefore, it is of great significance to develop preventive and curative measures to minimize the prevalence of MR and enhance the intellectual development of children, which will improve the quality of our population and promote social and economic development. At present, the treatment of MR in children is carried out through the cooperation mode of professional team, and the participants of the professional team of early treatment should include physicians, parents, nursing staff, psychologists, physical therapists, speech therapists, occupational therapists, special education teachers, audiologists, social workers and so on. Traditional Chinese Medicine (TCM), especially acupuncture, is indispensable in the treatment of MR in children, which is simple, effective and inexpensive, especially the “Jin’s Three Needles” therapy. This therapy is widely recognized by the industry and the general public for its refinement of acupuncture points and outstanding therapeutic effects.
