Hemangioma is a group of benign tumors composed of newborn vascular malformations and/or vascular endothelial cells, mostly occurring in infants or children, and the common clinical types are: bright red nevus (dilated nevus of capillaries or nevus of wine-like nevus), capillary hemangioma (strawberry nevus or simple hemangioma), cavernous hemangioma. Clinical manifestations: I. Nevus erythematosus 1. Age of occurrence: often occurs at birth or soon after birth. 2, Prevalent parts: face, neck and scalp. Characteristics of lesions: one or several dark red or greenish-red patches, not higher than the skin surface, with untidy edges, easy to fade with pressure. Attention: those occurring in the middle part of the occipital area, forehead, bridge of the nose, etc. can often subside on their own; those occurring unilaterally, with a large or extensive range often persist for life or further aggravate. Capillary hemangioma (strawberry hemangioma) 1.Age of occurrence: usually not at birth, but appear within weeks after birth, and increase in size after several months. 2. Prevalent parts:head and neck. 3, Lesion characteristics: one or several bright red or purple, high above the skin surface, soft and lobulated tumors, with clear boundaries, not easy to fade by pressure. Note: The tumor grows rapidly, mostly within one year old to the maximum, 75%~95% of patients can be completely or incompletely subsided by themselves at the age of 5~7 years. Cavernous hemangioma 1.Prevalent age: often occurs at birth or soon after birth. 2. Prevalent parts: scalp and face. Characteristics of lesions: Most of them are light purple or purple-blue round or irregular subcutaneous lumps, soft in texture, higher than the skin surface, nodular or lobular, with not too clear boundary. Treatment: 1. Surgery: for larger hemangioma or visceral hemangioma. 2.Laser: it is more effective for bright red nevus and capillary hemangioma. 3.Radiotherapy, isotope, electron beam therapy: can be used for capillary hemangioma and cavernous hemangioma. 4.Sclerotherapy: it is suitable for small capillary hemangioma and cavernous hemangioma. 5.Others: glucocorticoid or propranolol hydrochloride can be used for capillary hemangioma with rapid enlargement.
