Vascular intervention in obstetrics and gynecology is a specific application of interventional radiology in obstetrics and gynecology, which is a series of treatment techniques for obstetrics and gynecology diseases through catheters and other devices under the guidance of medical imaging equipment and the principles of clinical therapeutics. Because interventional radiology has advantages that internal medicine and surgery do not have, it has been internationally ranked as the third major treatment discipline along with internal medicine and surgery. At present, vascular interventions have been applied to the treatment of many obstetrical and gynecological diseases, and have achieved certain effects and gained wide attention. 1.Assist in the treatment of gynecological malignant tumors The advantages of interventional therapy in the treatment of gynecological malignant tumors are: reducing or eliminating cancer foci to reverse the clinical stage, creating opportunities for surgical treatment and improving the quality of survival; reducing the histological grading of tumors, eliminating micro-metastases around cancer foci and improving the survival rate; palliative treatment of advanced cancer tumors; and stopping bleeding from cancer foci. 2.Treatment of benign gynecological diseases Benign gynecological diseases occupy a large proportion in interventional treatment. It is popular among patients because of its minimally invasive, safe and low complication features. Unlike gynecologic malignant tumors, interventional treatment for benign diseases is generally one-time and mainly embolization. Therefore, the use of good embolic agents and the fine embolization of target vessels are very important for the efficacy. Interventional treatment of uterine fibroids has shown satisfactory results in terms of reduction of abnormal uterine bleeding, reduction or elimination of symptoms, normalization of menstrual cycle, improvement of anemia, and reduction of uterine size. The clinical effect of interventional treatment for uterine adenomyosis is mainly to improve the symptoms of excessive menstruation and dysmenorrhea, and the chance of conception in infertile patients is greatly increased after interventional treatment. 3.Treatment of gynecological bleeding diseases caused by various reasons The application of interventional embolization technology to deal with postpartum hemorrhage, post-hysterectomy vaginal stump bleeding and complex pelvic trauma bleeding is simple and effective. In some patients with refractory dysfunctional uterine bleeding, DSA imaging of uterine arteries can reveal the cause of bleeding, such as rupture of microscopic hemangiomas between the basal layer of endometrium and superficial muscular layer, and embolization of hemangiomas is one of the best indications for interventional techniques.
