How long can you live with demyelinating disease?

Patients with demyelinating disease can survive for 20-30 years, even as long as a normal person, if their disease is mild, their relapses are few, and their clinical symptoms are well controlled. To reduce the chance of recurrence of demyelinating disease, it is necessary to communicate with the doctor, to have regular head MRI, cerebrospinal fluid and electrophysiological examinations, and to take strict medication. Fulminant demyelinating disease and sudden onset demyelinating disease require prompt medical attention. If patients are not treated aggressively, they can die within hours to 10 days or within weeks from complications.
